Managing Marketing


This module taught me how Marketing played a part in establishing a product in the business environment. To do this, we were asked to do two assignments. One was a report on how we would market a product that didn't currently exist, mine was the SMS Textbook, and a poster to visually show the highlights of the report.


An SMS Textbook is a textbook that is sent to customers via text with chapter by chapter summary via text. An example of this is Romeo and Juliet, chapter summaries are sent to compliment existing class based work and summarise what is happening in the text.


The SMS Textbook was a topic I chose because it seemed too easy to pass up, but once I got into researching it, I found it was such a new topic it was hard to find research on it since it didn't currently exist. I marketed the textbook at GCSE age 15-16 year old boys and girls who would benefit from bitesized chapters of texts being sent to their mobile phones to aid revision.


Typically, this group has a very short attention span so I thought they'd enjoy this type of interactive learning.
