Watchers the Virtual Series

I worked as a Graphic Artist for Watchers the Virtual Series from 2004 - 2007.

Watchers is a virtual continuation of Buffy the vampire series, the televsion show which spanned seven seasons, and is fan fiction. The show takes the format of a real TV series with sounds, pictures or "screen captures" and four acts that make up an episode.

I got involved in Watchers during the second season, and even came up with an idea for an episode called Swap Meet, which is the fourth episode in the second series.

I worked for Art director, who came up with a list of screen captures that we needed to make to visually show the action based on the text of the story. This required me to read each episode before it aired and then using Photoshop create the image required.

I have improved a lot since my first ever screen cap and have learnt a lot in the process.


Check Mate - This was one of my first attempts of making a screencap. Looking back at it now, I've cut off half of Andrew's head, Dawn's coloring doesn't fit the room and she looks a little ghostly.	Swap Meet - This is from the episode I concieved. Looking back on it now, I would have made sure there was no opacity on the top of her head.

Real World - This was challenging to do because the brief required Rowena to be rushed to hospital and Xander to be comforting Willow. I compromised and found an image of a blonde being rushed to hospital and superimposed the Willow and Xander image from the Buffy episode Grave.	War Zone - This is the screen capture I am most proud of and was my first attempt at superimposing one person's head onto another's body. The man holding the baby was found from Google, with Giles's head superimposed onto his body. The original image looks like this:

59:23 - This was another difficult one to create since Rowena in the above picture needed a headset and it was very diffcult for me to find someone wearing a headset. I then had to rub the other person out and rotate the headset onto Rowena's head. The original image looks like this:	You Never Know - This is the latest screen capture I have made for the fourth season of Watchers featuring Buffy sitting in her office.
